Come raggiungere il WordCamp Roma e dove cercare alloggio

Italian text is followed by English

So, you’ve got your ticket for the WordCamp Rome, right? Now what? The next step is to book your travel and accommodations.

Sleeping in Rome

Our main event and the after-party will happen in the Ostiense area of Rome, so this is where you should look for a place to stay. 🏡

If this area is too expansive for you, or if there aren’t any rooms left, try to find a place along the B-line of the subway. It will make your life way easier!

We strongly suggest you avoid finding a place outside the “Raccordo Anulare” – the motorway that encircles Rome, as it will place you in areas far from the center and from the event locations. Public transportation would be less efficient and you could have troubles reaching us in time or to stay with us for the after-party.  And you don’t want to miss the party, do you? 😉

Communting and public transportation

In Rome there are two subway lines (A and B), which intersect at Termini Station. There is also a third line (the so-called Linea C), which is still unfinished, not fully active, and not connected to the previous ones (so, basically, skip it).

If you are going to stay near one of the stops of the Linea B, commuting is going to be super-easy!

Arriving by train

If you arrive by train, most probably one of your last stops  will be Termini Station or Tiburtina station, where many interregional buses also arrive. Both stations are connected with the Linea B subway, so you can easily reach the event from there.

Arriving by plane

Rome has two airports: Fiumicino and Ciampino.

Fiumicino airport is connected with the center of the City through a fast train, the Leonardo Express, which arrives at Roma Termini, and through a regional train which stops in different stations, including the Roma Ostiense Station (in the exact area of the WordCamp) and Roma Tiburtina Station.

Ciampino airport is connected through buses with Termini Station and with Anagnina Station (which is a stop of the Linea A of the subway).

For both airports, you can easily find buses which will take you to Roma Termini – useful, especially during the night or the early morning.

Taxis apply a flat fee to reach the airports from the center of the city (within what is called the Mura Aureliane, the Aurelian Walls): 40€ to/from Fiumicino, 30€ to/from Ciampino.

You can also book a taxi using the app MyTaxi.

Remember only take white taxis with official insignia and the litten “Taxi” sign. Never trust unofficial, illegal cabs.

A walk in the center of Rome

Visiting the center of Rome is pleasing and – luckily – quite easy: you can combine subway, bus, and tramways – not to mention how awesome it is to walk amongst ancient monuments and narrow streets.

Use Google Maps to decide the best routes. Usually, it can tell you the route timing with a minimum approximation – really useful. Alternatively, you can download the app Muoversi a Roma which can suggest possible itineraries, and give you information about timetables and about the state of the services.

Can’t wait to welcome you to Rome!
